As Qadri plans to go head-to-head with the government for a second time, get all the updates here. All stories relating to Qadri’s rally can also be found on this trend page as well.

Qadri says "if corps commander comes and provides security, I won’t stay inside the plane even for a second."

"How can we negotiate with those who support terrorists," he adds.
"I only trust the army; their high officials should come and escort us safely to our home."
"We will sit here until or unless army officials come here and assure us of our safety," Qadri demands.
He says he has not been contacted yet by government or army officials.

He, however, adds that the plane was diverted to Lahore because that is where his house and office are. He further states the plane was diverted to ensure Qadri’s safety.
“The government has never stopped any politician from their work; we have never stopped Sheikh Rasheed or Imran Khan, so why will we stop Qadri,” he says.

Qadri took the country by storm last year after returning from Canada, where he has lived for seven years. Qadri’s appeared at the forefront of Pakistan’s political landscape with a massive rally in Lahore on Dec. 23 in which he demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari’s government resign to make way for a caretaker administration led by technocrats.

@Salim The Punjab Governor has given up his British Passport. Did TUQ give up his Canadian passport before announcing the revolution ?
PML-N's repeating the same committed mistake already has been committed in 1999 instead of learning the lessons from 1999's committed mistakes and Pakistan's conditions are moving towards mid-term elections and PML-N is not seeming completing its tenure like 1999 and this is all heppening just due to the simple vast majority in 2013's elections in the addiction of power.......
All those who accuse Qadri of being Canadian please be aware that a very recent member of British Parliament is Governor Punjab in the present set up.
Dr Qadri saab is close friend of our NAMO please send him to ahmedabad
@Qandi gul: It took eight years to get rid of a military dictator. Now you are inviting another one....!!!! when we will learn from our mistakes...alas
who is he? seriously, why are you giving so much importance to a Canadian citizen?????
@Rex Minor: In many countries entitlement for citizenship is with the condition that you ll have to surrender other country's citizenship. is that so difficult to understand ?
@Rex Minor: Why is it so difficult for you to understand?
Qadri can obtain citizenship of any other country but Pakistan should have the right to cancel his Pakistani citizenship. Had they done so, Qadri would have required a visa to visit Pakistan.
When I got my US citizenship, I had to renounce my Indian citizenship. It is a law in India and India requires that you surrender the Indian Passport if you become citizen of another country. Now, I require visa to travel to India. Pakistan does not have these laws. They tried to bring in such a law 2 years ago but as many politicians and MP's and MNS's were holding deal nationality, they could not pass the bill. The courts tried, but failed. This is what I meant when I said that Pakistan should have disallowed (cancelled) Qadri his Pakistani citizenship as soon as he had obtained Canadian nationality. Also bear in mind that Qadri immigrated to Canada on a political asylum, claiming that he was persecuted in Pakistan.
There are many things I like about Qadri but I would not support him trying to change the government in Pakistan. PML-N acted very stupidly and they are continuing to commit more acts of stupidity which makes Qadri stronger.
Dr Tair Qadri is trying to act like Khomeney of Iran. We all know that TUQ very well, was a minister whereas Khomeney was a revolutionary. He always voiced against Emeror Reza Shah . So Mr TUQ do not try to become Khomeney of Pakistan. (Khan Raja Bhog and Khan Gangoo Tely)
TUQ is an well educated individual & good Islamic scholar but he is no way a capable leader. If he does topple Sharifs (which he would need help of army and other parties and three other provinces) then I salute him for that. But he won't be able to lead Pakistan & it will fail, so then what happens to this country...only Allah knows. Does TUQ really think he has the ability to fix the security issue? Islamization is on TUQ's agenda and I read his manifesto which makes NO sense, if I was a woman I'd be offended that my job can only be domestic (what does that even mean? Are we going to forcefully make the female doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers and what not to give up their jobs because its not 'domestic enough') his manifesto is a fairy tale for a pious Muslim man (which he is) but far from reality and what is happening right now
Mr tuq please leave us we don't neend any revolution we are already in a state of war so why r u doing such a drama to derail the democracy? Go to Canada Pakistanis need peace don't destroy our peace process
@Raj - USA:
What business is of one country allowing or disallowing the citcitizenship to one who receives his citizenship from another. And you have millions living in America who have no nationality and others as bonafied American citizens who were born in switzerland for example and are allowed swiss citizenship until they die. You seem to shooting from the hip at times.
Rex Minor
He is wasting his time for the people of Pakistan. They deserve what they are facing.
Pakistan is already in the state of war. Why does this want to initiate one more war? I think he is sent to Pakistan by the enemies of Pakistan.
Real issue in Pervez Musharraf. Establishment is pressurizing the government for early departure of Musharraf from Pakistan. They are using Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri for this purpose. As soon as Musharraf goes out of Pakistan, everything will be OK. Imran and Qadri are fooling the nation on the slogans of Change and Revolution. Both are puppets of Establishment.
If there is going to be a revolution it is going to be a sectarian revolution which will sow the seeds of disintegration of the country.
@Rex Minor: I said "allowing" not "giving".
i dont know what he is up to but I know one thing that about a million or two people need our help....plz stop supporting Mr. Qadri
I am already fed up with this guy.. Please go back to Canada and leave us alone.. Why is he talking about revolution? Does he know what ingredients it take to have a revolution in a country? This rehtorics is the last thing Pakistan needs.. The main issue at hand is the security of the country. If we are not left with a country, all other things are mere fairy tales..
@Raj - USA: "These are the bad effects of allowing dual nationality. The government cannot even refuse visa. Of course nothing can be done to disallow dual nationality when many of influentials and politicians are dual nationals."
Specially when another person a British Passport holder, who has pledged his loyalty to Her Majesty the Queen of England, in their parliament, sits in the Governor House in Lahore.
He was imported specially for the job by Nawaz Shareef. Does he even have a bachelor's degree?
@Raj - USA:
Are you genunely living in the USA? The Governments do not give dual nationalities; each country gives Nationality to ithose who are entitled for it.
Rex Minor
Qadri must be feeling very pleased with his performance because the foolishness of this gov. has given him more space than he deserve.
These are the bad effects of allowing dual nationality. The government cannot even refuse visa. Of course nothing can be done to disallow dual nationality when many of influentials and politicians are dual nationals.
@Shahid I am part of Pakistani nation, an average joe, an above average educated person, more or less similarly frustrated with issues facing our country but I HAVE NO INTEREST AND NOT BEHIND this Canadian. Speak for yourself but exclude the silent majority that brought this party with an economic manifesto in power.
I am afraid to say that short sightedness of political losers like chaudries, criminal silence of military when Musharraf and qadri hiding behind them, violence preaching by Canadian will ONLY RESULT IN REPULSIVE ACTIONS OF INVESTORS.
Todays global economy is connected, there are domino effect of these things, finally Pakistan was able to issue BONDS to raise capital (its not loan in traditional sense but a respectable way to raise money), getting world bank loans to build mega projects that will never ever happen on Pakistan's own money since there is none. All this will go down the drains for years. Luckily, I think military gets this now and beyond some policy items, it will not do any harm to government. People need to understand this.
Kick the inqillabies out or remember what has happened in Egypt and Syria. The real REVOLUTION is STABILITY in Pakistan.
"H chaudery, Agreed sir all the pirs and great ulammas of pakistan have westren passports noorani and qadri in canada, jammat e islami in houston texas, even germany, and then talk about revolution.
I would personally welcome this Canadian if he brings with him a team of planners, developers and investors. If that is not possible because of security reasons then he should have brought a plan to develop Pakistan on Canadian model where every citizen has equal rights, gay marriages are allowed and animals are respected,
Just curious why is he so important? The guy is a Canadian citizen, got his citizenship by filing political asylum. I am 100% sure he is working on someone's agenda.
PML-N is over-reacting, I would say, just ignore him and he will fly out in a few days.
Our siyasi peoples come to pakistan for there own busniss and fools and poor public aah.
As a citizen of Pakistan who lived all his life by choice and raising my next generation in Pakistan, i feel so depressed and sad on the state of affairs. It seems that lots of people and the certainly the mindless MEDIA have lost the sense of what is right and what is wrong! How on earth a person can be allowed to paralyse the country like this? Mr. Qadri is just a tout nothing more and our media is coveirng him 24/7 for so many days. The policemen who are injured today, aren't they sons of this country? who give these Jahals of PAT the right to raise arm on people on official duty? Condemned and/ or foreign based polticians are suporting Qadri but no one asks them why they are doing it? It's a petty that a person having taken oath of layalty to a foreign country is causing anarchy on the name of Inqalab. Allah (SWT) please help this country and its people!
Dr.Qadri, Whole nation is with you. Only vested interests are opposing you.
Look at us, the country is at war and we are totally distracted. Someone has to ask this cleric is it the right time to stage a drama? can't he wait a while, so that we can think of our army and their sacrifices at a time when they need our support.
Where is his bomb - proof container, which was prepared with millions of rupees during previous sit-in ? He could have used it for going from airport to his Sectt.instead of asking for a bullet - proof vehicle.
@JB When a bufallo sit in the water it will not get up, that is the situation of people like us, we don't want to think, we dont want to take any headache, let the things go however they are, whatever is happening to the Pakistani nation is what they deserved, so lets eat and sleep well. What do you want mr. qadri to go in local bus and get shooted by some unknown gunmen, he can feel the problems a common man is facing, he can spend his life in ac and Canada, but our people will not understand as our mind I limited only, wherever we will sit we will sit and not bother to think even what is his agenda. I hope he should have understood the thinking of people like us and never come here to put his life in tension and danger because of selfish people like us.
Tired of this Tamasha politics from visionless and incompetant politicians..
Next election we should be given a choice to have Singapore manage the country for 5 years under a management agreement...LOL
@Raja As much as I am against this current rule, I do not think that roaming around in business class seats in a five star airline and air conditioned bullet proof vehicles and putting a stop to a city's operations surrounded by all kinds of security; is NOT the best way to connect with the common man; the same common man who is suffering from load shedding, travelling on public transport, stuck in traffic jams due to the blockade of roads and suffering in the sweltering head of June.
Why attention because people are fed up with other political jokers so they just want change as Qadri is the most well-read leaders after Bhutto . Qadri has religious education. Law background , Ph.D , commands on different languages at least Arabic, English, Urdu . Has expressed his views very candidly on host of political, economic, social and religious matters. Has responded even highly offensive questions against him in TV talk shows . He established Awami Tehreek in 1989 and quit National Assembly Seat in 2005 as protest to dysfunctional parliamentary politics .
Mr Shahzeb Khanzada and of his ilk must be told that recourse of Qadri to military is just due to this institution's credibility vis-a-vis civvies. Can somebody tell that if rulers are allergic to army why thay have requested army for their protection , CM Punjab, Interior Minister, etc
Revolution arrives in Emirates business class! so much for simplicity!
Again a "Topi Drama" enacted for hours of prime time viewing. Shame on this Government of "heavy mandate" and "good governance" for allowing a non-entity to hostage the entire state of Pakistan for hours and days.
TUQ is a Total Drama and Media is picturing this drama for their own interest. PML N making alot of mistakes instead of tackling this matter smartly or diplomatically which definitely going to hurt them badly..
Why this joker is given so much attention?
So finally the issue was personal security which was solved by providing a bullet proof car from Gov Punjab. Strange times indeed... Revolutions are being directed from bullet proof cars and Business Class seats..
This mulla was brought to destabilize Punjab and with the help of media Pakistan enemies succeeded. If you want another Karachi in Lahore then ok, sit on the roads and listen teleconferences of mulla from Canada as Karachities were enjoying Altaf Hussain from 3-4 decades.... what a shame inqulab traveling in Business Class and asking for bullet proof car with live media coverage!
Dr. Tahir ul Qadri is a truthful person, there is no system in Pakistan, everything and all rights are for the rich persons only, the police, courts, govt depts. all are running through bribe culture, day to day living expenses are also increasing day by day, people are suiciding, women have been treated badly and raped. He wants to change this system but the big and small corrupt crocodiles will make all the efforts to target him as they don't want to leave the government and their big big cars and air conditioned houses. We have lived our lives in this bad culture but we don't want our children to face difficulties of jobs, poverty, electricity and other problems so please support him and any other person who want a proud Pakistan.
What a shame for Pakistan today that we are getting captured by these Fake people.
"Qadri steps out of plane after 4-hour ordeal"
Ordeal?? the ordeal was for the Emirates Airline, their staff and probably other passengers. Not to mention the people in various cities in Pakistan who got stuck in traffic jams because of dharnas and other dramas.
Tahir-ul-Qadri is a drama queen and got all the attention he wanted.
@Punjabi Nationalist: Nice try!
@Qandi gul: One can understand how you fee but Please do not say that! We have had too many emergencies only resulting in further chaos. We need to grow up and learn how to respond to these situations without harming the democratic process. God bless you.
Pir. Pagara once said then when Shareef brothers are in power they will catch you by collar but when not in power ,they will catch you by the foot.
If most airline (esp Emirates) stop providing service in Pakistan who will gain the most? Would I be wrong if its Govt's PIA #justatought
Is he not a Canadian Cits. What business or interest does he have here in Pak ?
they should hv shut the AC as soon as they had landed...! qadri find the best of times to land.. the coldest of cold weather or hottest of hot! and seriously government has made an actual mountain out of a mole hill !
I'm curious. What will happen to the passengers on the EK flight who were supposed to land in ISB? Will the govt. transport them to ISB or are they on their own?
This does not bode well for the commitment of foreign airlines to the Pakistani market :(
Why can't he stop his drama, and can we show some maturity by not giving him importance that he certainly does not deserve. This country needs people who improve the system while being part of the system not by some artificial means.
Please dont come to Pakistan for another Drama under bullet proof car
@Unbelievable:
In which Democracy are you living...do you even know wht it means or your target was onyl to get rid of Musharraff
While ordinary people are working hard to make ends meet and hopefully slowly and surely we get the country out of the mess....the likes of this Molvi of Canada is busy creating havoc and fitna ........
"Good Governance" and "heavy mandate" clueless how to deal with a non-entity like TUQ.
This is pathetic on both sides!!!
And all this fiasco on a foreign airline which creates an even bigger embarrassment to the country!!
Mubarak Hoooooooooo....!!!! TuQ has decided to come out of his Emirets container. because the airline has threatened to shut down the air conditioning!
drama queen. ppl are dumb to take his side
What is this obsession of "plane diversions" with the PML-N? In 1999, they did it. Now again. Will it have similar consequences?
Appeal to army to put some sense into Shareef dictators.
Plane diversion, Sharif trademark signature move!
Where is Imran Khan ? I thought he was going to stand on the stage outside Islamabad Airport along with Sheikh Rasheed, Chaudhry's of Gujrat and MQM Reps to announce the so-called Green Revolution. Instead he has run away to Bannu for photo opportunities with poor IDP's and there also he is blaming federal govt for everything.
Govt has lost nerves of war and its actions have proved that PML-N govt relies only on muscle power instead of good governance. Sharifs cant keep control over their crumbling rule by use of force. Myth of their popularity has collapsed and licking the dust.
Why is he not deported? He is enemy of political stability.
Please don't destroy peace of Pakistan.
yes it has been diverted to Lahore, actually just outside Lahore at the time of writing this message, after circling over ISB 6 or 7 plus times. Why on earth arent ET taking a look at the live flight tracking data and posting screenshots of that to this page, instead of relying on the isb airport website. Its very easy to do. Im looking at it right now.
Given the creation of mayhem and the disruption of public life, the Government is in its right to house arrest Tahir and bring him before a court of law.
divert his flight to mianwali airport. thats where he started his career as lecturer of islamic studies.
Does ET have to give these "Live Updates" or you are aiding Qadri in every way possible?
PML-N is now in hot water, we all welcome Revolution in Pakistan, Hurray!!!!!!
Mr Qadri is obviously deluded if he thinks he is right to have a rally when the Taliban gave threats.
GOOD GOVERNANCE ! No Policemen will stand before the protester as CHAMPION OF DEMOCRACY & GOOD GOVERNANCE has destroyed this department in 25 Year rule. Outcome is that this department has no support from public.
Madness and just madness by PML(N). They have no idea on how to deal with this situation. They are the one who have escalated tension and panic. Seriously there is no sensible head in pml(n).
Love for Pakistan is bringing back to Mr. Qadri as a Canadian citizen. He claimed to be ready to sacrifice his life for Pakistan but as a Canadian national only. He will not give up his Canadian nationality.
And look at who is supporting PAT. Sheikh Rasheed, Chaudhrys and many other onezes and twozees. What a shame how all these opportunities are getting together for their personal gains.
Punjabis unite...don't fight!
Time for COAS to impose emergency rule.
Turn his plane back to London!
Please go back! We don't need you
