ISLAMABAD: Investigations into a blind murder revealed that the victim’s wife along with her neighbour, with whom she had an illicit relationship, were behind the act.

Twenty five-year-old Nadeem Iqbal, a resident of Mehra Jaffar village in Golra area, was stabbed to death on the night of October 31. The deceased had received multiple wounds and had died on the spot. Police had started investigations into the murder without many clues.

On the night of the murder, Iqbal’s body was discovered lying in a pool of blood in his room while his wife Shabnam was found injured in another room.

She had told the police that some “unknown” men broke into their house and killed her husband. “They beat me up when I tried to rescue him,” she told them. Later, police nabbed Ansar Javed, the couple’s neighbour, and his cousin Naseer Ahmed on suspicions.

“Some people had seen them at the site of the murder immediately after the incident. They had been holding knives,” said a police official. During police interrogations, the suspects confessed that they had murdered Iqbal on the persuasion of his wife Shabnam.
Ansar Javed was in an illicit relationship with Shabnam and her husband had got the wind of their affair.

Police said that after receiving several threats from the deceased, Shabnam along with Javed contrived a plan to kill him. The Golra area Police arrested the two men for murder. Shabnam was also arrested for planning her husband’s murder.
