The team will function under the research and development AIG. According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the police chief reviewed the overall law and order situation while presiding over a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO).
He directed that all cases related to the martyred police officers be transferred to the crime branch. He also instructed the team to initiate the inspection work from the police stations in Karachi. The inspection team was ordered to evaluate the existing infrastructure, details about available arms and ammunition and maintenance of police registers, among others. Irregularities in any area must be incorporated in the report of the inspection team along with necessary recommendations, he added.
Moreover, he directed the heads of different police stations in the province to submit progress reports and the conviction rate of the murder cases registered or reported during the last five years. The Sindh IG also reviewed the performance of the command and control centre and Madadgar 15 helpline units in the CPO. While reviewing various police welfare projects, Mehmood demanded that the appointment of consultants or specialists in the police hospital in Karachi be expedited.
