KARACHI: As prime minister Nawaz Sharif caught a plane to Tajikistan on a day authorities clashed with protesters in Lahore, people took to social media site Twitter to think out loud what they would do if they were in the PM's seat for a day.

#IfIwasaPMforaday was one of the top trending trends late on Tuesday evening. Some of the users seriously suggested their plans for utilising their time in the hot-seat for public good. Others had more humorous take on the trend.

What would I do if I was Prime Minister of Pakistan for a day? Invest more in education and healthcare. Reduce the budget of the Army and increase the budget of the Air Force and Navy. Raise the operating budget of government scientific departments such as the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission and the Atomic Energy Commission. Make studying in Pakistani universities free for all Pakistani nationals and non-nationals but with at least one Pakistani parent.
