Two killed in encounters
An alleged member of a Lyari gang was killed in an alleged encounter with the police and Rangers. Police officials said that the encounter took place on Mauripur Road, within the limits of the Kalri police station, where during an exchange of fire, a gang member was killed. However, his companion escaped under the cover of firing.
Police officials said that deceased's body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where he was identified as Saeed Commando, the operational commander of Uzair Jan Baloch's Sheraz Comrade group.
The officials added that the deceased was wanted by the police in over 15 cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and police encounters. Weapons were also recovered from his possession.
Similarly, a suspected street criminal was killed during an alleged encounter with the police in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, within the limits of the Sharae Faisal police station. Police officials said that the encounter took place when two suspects, riding a motorcycle, were looting passers-by. The officials added that a police mobile reached the site during routine patrolling and asked them to surrender. However, they added, the culprits tried to escape under the cover of firing. In retaliation, the police also fired back, killing a robber, while his companion managed to escape. The deceased was later identified as Zafar Gabol, a resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Mob beats up robber
Separately, a suspected robber was injured near Orangi Town's Akbar Shaheed Chowk, within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station. Police officials said that two robbers were looting passers-by when a crowd managed to catch one of them. The police added that he was beaten up severely by the mob before being shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Extortionists caught
The Special Investigation Unit claimed to have apprehended three suspects allegedly involved in various cases of extortion during a raid in Essa Nagri.
The suspects were identified as Azam Hussain, Pervez Khan and Nazim Khan. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Man recovered
Meanwhile, the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) claimed to have recovered an abductee, Anjum Shahzad, from Jamshoro. CPLC officials said that the abducted was kidnapped from Garden a few days ago, adding that due to fear of being arrested, the kidnappers tied Shahzad's hands and legs with rope and fled.
