Gilani appeared before the court today to submit his bail plea. A huge number of his supporters were gathered outside the court, while a few Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders accompanied him to the judge’s chamber.
The former prime minister has been accused of corruption worth millions of rupees.
During the hearing today, Gilani - who served as prime minister from 2008 to 2012 - argued that he was wrongly accused in false corruption cases.
Earlier on June 2, the same court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gilani and former commerce minister Amin Fahim for their alleged involvement in seven cases relating to a multi-billion trade subsidy scam.
Gilani, along with ex-commerce minister Fahim, allegedly granted billions of rupees in subsidies to bogus trading companies.
