For a better deal: YDA boycotts OPD of two hospitals
A senior doctor at the LGH said patients were suffering due to YDA’s protest.
LAHORE:
Office-bearers of Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Monday stopped working in outpatient departments (OPD) of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) and Shaikh Zayed Hospital, in Rahim Yar Khan, to protest against “poor service structure”. Patients faced problems after the OPD closure. YDA leader Shabbir Chaudhry said the protest would continue until the doctors were given better service structure and security at hospitals. He said the YDA would boycott the OPD of Services Hospital on Tuesday (today) and of Jinnah Hospital on Wednesday. He said they would stop working at other hospitals if their demands were not met. A senior doctor at the LGH said patients were suffering due to YDA’s protest. “The number of patients at the Emergency Department today is three times higher than usual as patients normally treated in OPD also came here,” he said on condition of anonymity.
