Unforgettable night: Newly-weds found dead in their bed

MULTAN: A newly married couple was found dead in their bedroom in Multan on Monday. Police said 18-year-old Asif of Shujabad had married 17-year-old Sumaira, a resident of Shereenwala, on Sunday night. They said the couple ate home-cooked food for dinner and then went to sleep. Asif’s father Muhammad Yousaf told the police that Asif woke up twice in the night to switch on the generator when power went off. He said when the couple did not wake up in the morning, the family knocked on their door. He said when they did not respond, they had to break it open. They found the couple dead in their bed. The bride’s father said he was preparing to visit her when he heard the news. Police said the family had refused to conduct post mortem examination of the deceased. They believe food poisoning may have caused their death.
