The construction work on the 969 MW Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project is in full swing. The project would be completed by the end of 2016 at an estimated cost of Rs274.882 billion. The first unit of power generation from the mega project will be completed by December 2015, official sources said. The hydroelectric project is being constructed on River Neelum in Azad Jammu and Kashmir with the help of the federal government. The project will contribute about 5.15 billion units of electricity to the national grid annually, the official sources said adding that with the completion of the project an estimated amount of Rs30 billion will be saved annually.
