KARACHI:
Two activists of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) were shot dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday in what police suspected to be an incident of ‘political’ targeted killings. The victims, identified as Qaiser Abbas Rizvi, 56, and Shoaib Abbas, 28, were gunned down with 9mm pistols by unidentified assailants at the former’s decoration shop located in Eastern Pride Apartments in Block-15, said Sharae Faisal sub-divisional police officer Chanzeb Khan. The two later succumbed to their injuries at Darul Sehat Hospital. The officer added that both the victims were former members of Muttahida Quami Movement North Nazimabad sector, but had left the organisation to join the MWM only a few days ago. Separately, Atifullah, 28, and Lutfullah, 26, were shot on MA Jinnah Road near Numaish Chowrangi. The victims were students of Dora-e-Hadith at Jamia Banoria and hailed from Mardan. They were taken to Jinnah hospital, where Atifullah died. Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Malir vice-president, Shahid Arain, was injured in a shoot-out near Malir District Jail. Arain sustained two bullet injuries and was taken to Liaquat National Hospital where his condition was said to be stable.
