FAISALABAD:

A retired army man and his wife were shot dead and their daughter sustained bullet injuries over an old rivalry on Friday.

Jhang Bazaar police said Zulfiqar Ali, 70, was at his house in Lateef Park, when four armed assailants walked into their house and shot him. His wife Sughran Bibi, 65, and daughter Fatima, 30, ran to rescue him but were also shot.

Ali and his wife died instantly. Fatima was taken to Allied Hospital where her condition was critical. Ali’s relatives staged a demonstration protesting against the police whom Ali had previously asked for protection. Javaid Akram, a relative, said Ali had been threatened by his rivals. He had complained to the police but no action was taken.
