HARIPUR: Two women were allegedly disrobed in public and stoned over a property dispute in a remote village located in union council Rehana, police said on Thursday.

Sera-e-Saleh police quoted 16-year old Amna* as saying that the victims had a property dispute with their relatives and their case had been taken up by the court.

The two women had hired a thresher on June 9 for their wheat crop which was delivered to their land through the disputed passage, infuriating the rival party leading them to pelt the women with stones.

"They dragged us naked on the ground, kicking and punching us. They have destroyed our lives after exposing our naked bodies to the villagers," said Amna*, her eyes welling up while speaking to the media.

The second victim, 34-year old Noor*said, “I feel totally humiliated, and do not feel any worth of my life when I have lost my honor.”

She added she had lost faith in the law after going through the degrading episode.

Noor* also demanded that the accused be severely punished.

After hearing their cries, people from the area took the undressed women to their homes, the victims told the police.

The police have registered a criminal case against the 11 accused under section 147, 148 and 354 A, and arrested them on Tuesday.

The accused were brought before the court on Thursday and were sent to the Haripur jail on judicial remand.

*The names of the victims have been changed to protect their identity.
