ISLAMABAD: Former NA speaker Fakhar Imam and former federal minister and ambassador to the United States Abida Hussain expressed heartfelt condolences on the demise of veteran nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri.

He was not only the chief of his tribe, which is the largest tribe in Balochistan, but was also a great idealist and humanist, they said in their condolences messages on Wednesday, while speaking to The Express Tribune.

“Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, educated at Aitcheson College, Lahore, Nawab Khair Bakhsh Khan Marri opted to follow the teachings of Marx, Lenin and Mao and sought to struggle for a federal Pakistan based on local and regional equity and harmony,” Hussain said.

Essentially a peaceful man, Nawab Khair Bakhsh was unforgiving in the face of cruelty and arbitrariness.

“His passing is a massive loss for his family, the Marri tribe, the impoverished people of Balochistan and all those who think of Pakistan as a nation in pursuit of the goals of progress, learning and justice,” they said.
