HARIPUR: A policeman allegedly shoved a teenage girl off a hillock after raping her in a remote village of Ghazi tehsil in Haripur, police said on Wednesday.

Police quoted 18-year-old Aroosha*, a resident of Swabi district, saying she fell in love with a police constable, Farhan, of Topi police station around two weeks back.

She added the two started conversing on the phone during which time Farhan said he was unsure if his family would accept their marriage and hence suggested eloping and tying the knot in court.

Agreeing to his terms, Aroosha left home with Farhan and reached Kheroch village near Sirikot Town of Ghazi tehsil on Tuesday afternoon.

Once at Kheroch, Farhan allegedly raped Aroosha. The victim, though traumatized, pleaded him to marry her, saying he had destroyed her honour. However, Farhan refused and instead thrashed Aroosha and then pushed her off a hillock before fleeing.

Upon hearing cries of agony, villagers rushed to the site and shifted the critically injured victim to Rural Health Centre, Ghazi.

There, medical examination proved she was raped and had also fractured her legs due to the fall. Police then registered a criminal case against the accused policeman and started raiding his possible hideouts with the help of Swabi police.

The girl, meanwhile, was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Haripur.

Some people were taunting Naya KP with this isolated criminal case. Now as the details are cleared, it shows no negligence on police's part, but a typical isolated crime.

In Punjab, on the other hand, police raped a rape victim in police station! Roshan Punjab!
