LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Finance, Excise and Taxation Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said the Punjab government will present a budget that will focus on people’s welfare in the next fiscal year (2014-15). “We have prepared a balanced budget in which no tax burden has been proposed for the poor,” he said in his Punjab Assembly chamber. He said the upcoming budget would be ideal and according to wishes of the masses. “We kept the plight of the poor under consideration while finalising proposals for the budget. Like the federal budget, the Punjab budget will also focus on broadening the tax net by bringing more sectors under its fold,” he added. In the budget, he said, interests of farmers would be protected and incentives would be offered to enable them to achieve maximum yields.
