Karachi fallout: Eight flights at BBIA cancelled

Red alert was declared at the airport following the attack in Karachi.

Eight domestic flights were cancelled at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) on Monday morning due to the terrorist attack on the Jinnah International Airport Karachi the previous night, said an official.


The official said that four of the cancelled flights were bound for Karachi, while the rest were Islamabad-bound flights from the coastal city.


The official said that except for two flights, PK-257 for Sharjah, and PK-757 for Riyadh, international flights left the airport without disruption.


Meanwhile, red alert was declared at the airport following the attack in Karachi.


Additional security personnel had been deployed in and around the airport, said a police official.


He said army and Airport Security Force personnel continued patrolling at the airport to ensure the protection.


The official said that people entering the airport were being checked thoroughly.
