CHARSADDA:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday quashed an FIR registered against Qaumi Watan Party MPA Sultan Muhammad Khan last year for threatening police officials.

While talking to The Express Tribune, Khan said he and his guards were nominated in the FIR by the police on the orders of the provincial government after they protested against the ‘illegal’ detention of his supporters on December 29 last year.

Police officials had claimed the PK-18 MPA stormed the city police station with his guards and intimidated policemen to set free his constituents who were arrested over aerial firing.

The police then registered a case against the MPA under the Anti-Terrorism Act and PPC. Later, Sultan was bailed by an anti-terrorism court and he later approached
PHC to terminate the case against him.

After hearing the case, Justice Ikramullah Khan ordered that the FIR be quashed. Qaumi Watan Party pulled out of the ruling coalition last year after two of its ministers were dismissed on charges of corruption. Later, the party accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf of intimidating it by registering the ‘fake’ FIR.
