Joining hands: ‘Youth’s role pivotal for social welfare’

Population Welfare Minister Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said on Friday the youth should join hands with the government for the provision of social welfare services.


She was addressing a seminar on evolution of social welfare in India and Pakistan, organised by the University of the Punjab’s Department of Social Work. Parliamentary Secretary Khwaja Imran Nazir, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Dean Zakria Zakar, PU Law College Principal Shazia Naureen Qureshi and Maharaja Sayajirao University’s Prof Bhavna Mehta were present. Shahnawaz said the government was doing its best to provide social welfare services to people. Nazir said Pakistan wanted cordial relations with India. He said the two countries should help resolve problems faced by their peoples. Mehta highlighted social welfare issues in India.
