Boy strangulated after being tortured

The body of a 10-year-old seminary student was found in the Koral area late on Wednesday.


He had allegedly been sexually-assaulted by an unidentified person prior to being killed.

Haris*, a resident of Koral was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed in an under-construction building in the Koral area, said investigation officer Muzafar Shah.

According to details, the body was found in the same building on Wednesday night.

The officer said that Haris had left his house at 8pm to go to the market. After some time when did not return, his family began searching for him and around midnight, they found the body in the building.

Although the police official suspected rape, the complainant did not mention sexual assault in his application.

The officer said that Haris had been withdrawn from a formal school after second grade and enrolled in a local madrassa in the Koral area.

The victim’s family hails from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) but had settled in the Koral area many years back.

Koral Station House Officer (SHO) Shaukat Ali confirmed the recovery of a body and said a murder case had been registered on the complaint of the child’s father, who is a taxi driver.

He the investigation is progressing and the police will track down the culprits soon.

Dr Tanveer Malik, the medico-legal officer at Polyclinic, confirmed to The Express Tribune that deceased was tortured and had bruising indicative of strangulation on his neck.

“The deceased resisted when somebody tried to drag him and he was tortured,” he added.

He said he could not confirm if the boy was sexually assaulted until lab test results were available, which, along with the DNA analysis test, will take up to three weeks.

@Afghan: First of all we are not a "Muslim nation." Second of all I meant it as an expression. I'm not blaming every single Pakistani. I am Pakistani myself.

@Syeda KAzmi. No ones denying that boys are not being raped. However the treatment is different. If a girl gets raped its almost always her fault. She gets blamed that "She was asking for it". That is probably not the case for boys/ men.

And lets not forget about how female rape victims get treated by their own family members. They get blamed for having lose character and often get thrown out of the house or in worse cases getting killed. Again that is usually not how things turn up if a boy or a man is raped.
