Hockey: England down Malaysia in World Cup

In the women’s tournament, Australia triumphed over Belgium 3-2.

In a rain-hit match, England men ground out a 2-0 win over Malaysia in the 2014 Hockey World Cup men’s competition to stay ahead with seven points in Pool A at The Hague, Netherlands on Thursday.


England now have seven points after winning two matches and drawing one in Pool A, while Malaysia, along with Spain and India, are at the bottom of the table among six teams without a win in the tournament so far.


In the women’s tournament, Australia triumphed over Belgium 3-2, while the match between South Korea and Japan ended in a 1-1 draw.
