Azad Kashmir road accident claims four lives

Driver lost control of jeep which plunged into a nullah.

MUZAFFARABAD:

A woman was among four guests accompanying a wedding party who were killed when their jeep fell into a nullah in Neelum valley, while 10 others received injuries, some 160 kilometres from the capital.

According to the police, the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve near Bakwali, Neelum Valley. As a result the jeep fell into the 100 feet deep ravine and landed into the nullah Surgan. Four people who lost their lives on spot were identified as Abida Bibi, Muhammad Maqsood, Muhammad Fardous and Tariq. The groom, who was travelling in another jeep, remained safe.

Locals retrieved the bodies of Abida and Fardous from the nullah, while search for the other two is unde rway, said Athmuqam  Assistant Commissioner Nadeem Janjua, while speaking to The Express Tribune.

“It is difficult to retrieve the bodies as the nullah is in flood and there is a possibility that the bodies might have been swept away by strong currents, however, we will continue to search and retrieve them.”

The injured have been shifted to Kel hospital where three are in serious
condition and others are stable. The main reason for road accidents in upper Neelum valley is the poor road network.
