‘Anti-poor, pro-rich’: PTI MNA slates centre over budget

PESHAWAR: The government has presented an “anti-poor and pro-rich budget,” said MNA and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) secretary information Ayesha Gulalai. According to a statement issued by the party’s media cell, Gulalai found the budget lacked relief for the public in the form of utilities or edibles. While discussing the national budget, the MNA said Rs58 billion will be collected from citizens in gas taxes to satisfy the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Additionally, general sales tax has been increased from 16% to 17%, disastrous for the middle and lower income classes, she said. “The government should have included a special rehabilitation package for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as the province is the one affected most by terrorism.”
