Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought a reply from the Interior Ministry on a petition that said it had violated the court’s order by not arranging a meeting between the families and 10 Pakistanis released from Bagram prison in Afghanistan.
In its application, the Justice Project Pakistan (JPP) said the ministry had denied families access to the released citizens. Barrister Sarah Belal, a counsel for the JPP, said seven of the 10 people had been moved to an undisclosed location in the FATA. She said the ministry had violated the court’s order by not allowing the families and the counsel to meet them.
She requested the court to obtain explicit guarantees from the ministry regarding safety and humane treatment of the 10 citizens.
The court ordered the ministry to submit its reply. The case was adjourned until June 5.
