The Afghan government on Monday sought the United States support against alleged ‘rocket attacks’ by Pakistan.
Washington is bound to help Kabul to counter external threats under a strategic partnership agreement, Afghan officials said.
The Afghan foreign ministry said it has formally submitted a letter to the US Embassy in Kabul, informing it about the recent “Pakistani air strikes,” in Dangam district of Kunar.
The US Embassy in Kabul has not made any comments on the letter.
“Pakistani rocket attacks have continued on Afghanistan for years, causing human and material loses of Afghans,” the Afghan ministry’s letter said. A copy of the letter is available with The Express Tribune.
“This action is a flagrant violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and is considered as a clear aggression on its soil,” the strong-worded letter said.

I will start to say that Pakistan is a region cancer both for Afghanistan and India. British gift to India and Afghanistan. There are no afghan refugees in Pakistan, remember agreement of durand, run out 1993 then i will say that pakistaniss are refugees, Afghans owns half of pakostan, Till Attak. India wants Afghans to become strong regionally allong with India to cut down the cancer cause its spreading. Iran is also paying heavy price to have pakostan in their backyards. Remember pakistanis, Afghanistan will rise higher and stronger and then we will reclaim our inches of soil from you. Durand agreement is over!!!
@Murtaza Show me any link about terrorism in Bangladesh by India. Show me any link same for Nepal SHOW ME ABOUT BHUTAN People like you are the real cause for what Pakistan is today
@Bakhtiyar Ghazi Khan: O'h I believe you when you say you are loyal and patriotic. You have one of the highest numbers of volunteesr, not conscription, in Pakistan military because you also have the highest level of illetracy as well. The Pakhtuns loyalty is usualy first to the family and tribe and then to the territory be it Afghanistan or Pakistan or whatever. You can laugh if you will and forget if you want that a Pakhtun has a thousands years of history, whereaas Pakistan has less than a century.
Rex Minor .
@Bakhtiyar Ghazi Khan Any Pashtons worth his salt will never accept the Durand line.
Blind rocket attacks accomplish what? Typical Pakistan chest thumping exercise for short term ego stroking that leaves long term bruises - likely have never killed a single "bad guy" despite numerous attacks over the years. Pretty much rubbishes your "sovereignty" argument you have brought to the UN against the American's.
@Rex Minor: Your comment is so foolish it made me laugh. I am a Pukhtoon and living in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa. We are very patriotic and loyal to our country and have one of the highest military conscription in Pakistan. Cross-border attacks by the illegitimate puppet government in Kabul are being repulsed by Pukhtoon Frontier Corps and Border Guards.
@Last Word: If India forges alliances with countries like Israel and the racist anti-Pukhtoon puppet government in Kabul, it will send the message of their true intentions to the whole Muslim world. Just wait when foreign troops leave Afghanistan, we will see how long Pukhtoons will allow Indians to stay.
If they are not capable of bearing the encounter then why they always initiate the strike against us ???
Pakistan and the region would be so much at peace without the warmonger India. Indian is the only neighbour in the region who has problems with all the countries in the region. Infact Indian losers have fought wars with two of its neighbors China and Pakistan. India is funding the terrorists in Afghanistan and is spending billions of dollars for this purpose. India is against all the propaganda against Pakistan in whole world. Karzai is speaking for India , because of the billions of dollars it gets from India and , therefore , it is no surprise for me. No matter what these creatures called Indians do , they will never defeat or bow down Pakistan ever. Bring whole world with you and still Pakistan will be the winner , as Allah is the guardian of Pakistan.
@Last Word: First of all join hands with your actual neighbours Srilanka, Bangladesh, China who are already sick of you! What are you doing in Afghanistan by the way? Try to get rid of your slums!
Pakistan cries when American drones drop missiles on pakistani soil, a setup which the govt of pakistan had agreed to. Yet they feel everything is right if their planes drop rockets into afghan territory for which the afghan govt never agreed.
@Khattak: Hasn't Afghanistan been playing a double game since 1947 when the British left the region by interfering in Pakistan with Indian assistance? Why do you think Daoud is cursed by all in Pakistan and Afghanistan? Instead of helping Afghanistan develop, he was too busy doing India's bidding in KPK and the failed Pashtunistan adventure. Even Farsiwan said it was a waste of time and energy and destablized Afghanistan in the process. People in KPK rejected the interference from India and Afghanistan long ago. I know my own relatives in KPK welcomed Afghan refugees with open arms after Soviet invasion but their thankless attitude has disappointed them.
Cheap tactics by Karzai.
@Rex Minor: Karzai was a refugee in Pakistan and the US where he begged for asylum His extended family still live in the US after having went there on asylum and begging for protection. So how can you say he will not take dictation from the US? He will be running away there again soon enough. Afghanistan has allowed itself to become an Indian puppet state and it is becuase they have served as Indian base for 60 years, it is in a miserable state.
So Karzai has Angered the Americans by refusing to sign the agreement to allow troops to stay in his country legally...and yet as soon as he has a problem on his border with a neighboring country he wants the Americans to step in and help?....I think it is good this guy is leaving office...
@Afghanistan peace lover: Thanks for your kind but true words about India. Pakistan has been doing mischief both along its Eastern and Western borders for many decades and the whole world has witnessed the same. Time has come for Afghanistan and India to jointly fight the terrorism unleashed across our borders and India would be more than willing in helping your country. The new regime led by Modi has promised zero tolerance to terrorism from across the border and India would also like to continue its development tasks after foreign forces leave Afghanistan and taking care of your security concerns as well.
@sharabi: And they are not impressed with Pakistan giving shelter to their 5 million refugees since Soviet invasion, They are not impressed with Pakistan allowing their citizens to run their businesses and settle with their families in Pakistan They are not impressed with Pakistani army and intelligence agencies helping them fight against Soviet union which was trying to occupy their country They are not impressed with Pakistan giving their youth scholarships of Pakistani universities, allowed their team to use Pakistani cricket stadiums They are not impressed with Pakistan allowing exports to their country and their citizens using Pakistani airports to fly abroad
AND now after all this you said they are more impressed by those 236 scholarships and a building provided by the Indians? Why is your govt interested in investing all those money in Afghanistan and building 7 consulates along Pakistan-Afghan border while your own people are forced to live in slums and sleep on footpaths? Now this is what we call a cheap Indian logic! These Afghanis don't even know that their country has been hijacked by Indians, but we know it very well!
@Mirza:
"Something must be wrong with all our neighbors, they all accuse us of terrorism export and spreading death and destruction. They are all wrong and jealous of us we are so very peaceful and passive country. We have nothing to do with creating terrorists or nurturing and protecting them. They simply fall from the sky."
Dear Sir,
After reading your several comments, I am convinced that God has bestowed upon you all of His wisdom, sagacity, and discernment. How lucky we Pakistanis are that such an omniscient personality was descended (migrated from India) upon our nation to guide us the ignorant [for the wise like @Mirza, sarcasm is absolutely not intended].
@Ammad They are impressed by gift to Afghanistan "A Beautiful Senate building worth 2.2 B$" built by India. They are impressed by 236 Scholarships to study Space Science in IISc, Engineering & IT in IITs. They are impressed by 7 Hospitals Operating by India in Afghanistan. They are impressed by Militry Training & HW supply & They are impressed by Friendship of India. (Please do not tel me about afghan refugees in Pakistan because you should know that not a single penny is being provided by Pakistan, all funds help is coming from UN, UNICEF & Red-cross, You are providing Just Land for tants)
Modi doesn't need to attack Pakistan they have an alley in Karzai open the a second front against Pakistan
Alike Former Indian PM Manmohan Singh, the title "Dehati Aurat" also fits well for Afghan Government :)
@Afghanistan Peace Lover lolz, Joke of the day...Innocent India :D Are you impressed by Indian innocence in Kashmir where they killed 300,000 human beings? Are you impressed with Indian innocence in Balochistan via Raw and Afghan Intelligence agencies? Are you impressed with indian involvement in building Balochistan Liberation Army camps in Kandhar where RAW provides training to those who blast Pakistan places? Perhaps you don't comprehend the hidden purpose of indian investment in Afghanistan. Just wait for USA withdrawal from the region. Indian investment will be divested very soon! Why don't India get its term resolved with Bangladesh, China, Srilanka, Bhutan first? Afghanistan is a day dream for India to capture Pakistan from other side!
Go Sleep Dear :)
See India they are so big and helpful, they have never troubled anybody, Pakistan should learn from them. In Afghanistan we have seen Indian's getting killed by terrorists comming from Pakistan, but, even then they speak good about pakistan and say make peace with them they are so innocent and helping, how to convince them to help us. I wish India is monitoring the situation very closely. Afghanistan needs Indian army weapons help along with economic help.
US is not in a position to help itself, where will it help Kabul. Crazy to think of making such an request.
@Ammad:
Truth is the precious commodity in War, and it must be protected before and after the war with a pack of lies(winston Churchill). Mr Karzai is the leader of the powerful Pashtun tribe, is not used to taking any nonsense from the Americans, though had a very good relation with General Macchrystal(fired by Obama). He has refused to sign the agreement which allows the Americans the immunity against Afghan laws.
Rex Minor
@sharabi: Pakistan is wrong China is wrong Srilanka is wrong Bangladesh is wrong Nepal is wrong Only india is right
Now what about that?
@Khattak:
KPK has no choice but to separate from Pakistan corpus, unless its army stops its genocide by areal bombing and artillery rockets which apparently now covers the entire Pakhtun territory on both sides of the durand line affecting the lives of more than 65 million people. One thing is certain, there will never be the repeat of East Pakistan scenario.
Rex Minor
@khalid khan bangash: This is not a statement but a diplomatic offensive by Hamid Karzai who is a Pashtun leader and is concerned and has always been concerned about the deaths of Pashtuns on both sides of the border! Besides the 5 million Afghan citizens are also Pashtuns, atleast the majority of them and they have contributed to the economy of Pakistan as a whole.
Rex Minor
You may call them refugees but others will call them internaly displaced Pakhtuns. Pakistan is simply using the ploy to cash on aid from the UNO!
Rex Minor
One country is a headache for all its neighbours.
Pakistan needs to realize is that days of 1990s and Taliban rule is over in Afghanistan. The role it played is not forgotten by the Afghans. They will pay you with the same coin cause they have learned the game of double play. Watch what happens in the future. Pakistan has not won any war and this skirmishes will also go in the wrong direction.
This is a new low on the part of Afghan government. Karzai and his cronies looted that country and now are playing the gallery by blaming it's neighbour that took in 5 million Afghan citizens. Unfortunately for Pakistan ,we share a border with an 8 times bigger (hostile) country to the East that also pushes these Afghan leaders to issue non-sense statements like this. Complete and utter shame
@lulu Totally agree that refugees put burden on security and economy. Bangladeshis should be expelled from India too.
What will Pakistan military accept now, the American airbourne military observers along the line of control or the UNO soldiers of peace with American contingent?
Rex Minor
Kabul is in a denial mode of accepting the fact that 200 Militants crossed the border and attacked Pakistan security posts, Karzai has proven himself to be a joker. Taliban negotiated with US to release key 5 talibans by handing them over 1 US soldier. Karzai was absolutely neglected in such deal by Talibans and US. When Obama made a secret landing on Bagram airbase, he did'n even ask any of the Afghan official for the meeting, Karzai is being put on sideline by USA. so this letter will be trashed. US withdrawal needs Pakistan support. I would rather recommend full fledge security surveillance on Chaman border to curb Afghan intelligence propaganda in bringing suicidal terrorists in Pakistan.
@truth “bring it on!”
Umm looks like you forgot that the Drones are still flying over your head. Big words dont suite well a small mouth.
now a country like 'afghanistan' threats Pakistan. How much more will we fall? why on earth Pakistan does'nt send afghan refugees back? why?
Look who is talking! Unthankful Afghans now lining up with our enemies and accusing us of attacks while they nurtured terrorists themselves. These war mongers will never learn a lesson.
Let them cry. No one gonna listen. Until and unless Kabul stops supporting Talibans, who every now and than sneak into Pakistani border to attack Pakistani posts, Pak Army will retaliate be it in Afghan soil. This has been US mantra against Pakistan so US has no moral grounds to accept Afghan rhetoric complain.
@lulu: Are you sure it is not 50 million refugees?
Fazlullah lives and leads from Afghanistan. Its a kn own fact owned by the Afghan government too. Cross border attacks are regular feature. What else do you need? I think Pakistan should priorly inform that a cross border air raid can also take place inside Afghanistan if the "soverign" sate of Afghanistan does not make its state of affairs right..
Hand over Mullah Fazlulah to us and we will stop.
Like american jets are showering candies on your people
Iran is wrong India is wrong China is wrong Afghanistan is wrong only Pakistan is right
@Mirza: As they say, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance".
Karzai should never be allowed to enter Pakistan.
Pakistan should stop meddling in neighbors' affairs. Otherwise, they'll get paid in the same coin. The agencies cannot keep doing what they did in the past without ramifications.
Pakistan should learn now from its mistakes and see from a See Throw Glass rather keep watching itself on a Mirror.
What about all the drone strikes in Pakistan from Afghan soil ? Double standards.
Something must be wrong with all our neighbors, they all accuse us of terrorism export and spreading death and destruction. They are all wrong and jealous of us we are so very peaceful and passive country. We have nothing to do with creating terrorists or nurturing and protecting them. They simply fall from the sky.
@Salman: yet when President Karzai accused Pakistan of attack on Indian consulate at Herat he was denounced as a lier in these pages. Now here is further accusation and Karzai has approached for help at least now Pakistanis will be convinced
Look who they hav sent the letter to......how ironic
First take back your 5 million refugees, their presence here is a clear violation of sovereignty.
My response to the Kabul govt: "bring it on!"
Who needs enemies when we have such neighbours.
