The Islamabad Police claim to have nabbed 153 persons during the month of May for their alleged involvement in drug peddling activities and possessing illegal weapons, a police spokesman said.
According to a police press release, Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) directed all relevant officials for effective crackdown against drug sellers and those carrying illegal weapons.
Following a strategy of high vigilance and enhanced patrolling, Islamabad police nabbed 153 persons for involvement in these crimes and registered a total of 148 cases.
The police recovered a total of 9.695 kilogram of hashish, 1.428 kilogram of heroin, 1,009 bottles of liquor, three AK-47s, five rifles, 64 pistols, one dagger and 1,647 rounds from them.
During the same period, Islamabad police arrested 80 absconders including 53 proclaimed offenders and 27 court absconders.
