Aabpara police claim it has busted two interprovincial gangs allegedly involved in car thefts and recovered four stolen vehicles from their possession, a police spokesman said.
City Superintendent of Police Mustansar Feroze constituted a team which included Aabpara SHO Inspector Hakim Khan for the recovery of the stolen vehicles.
This team succeeded in arresting seven suspected car thieves who police believe are members of two separate inter-provincial gangs. The police said these gangs allegedly lifted cars from Islamabad and sold them in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa after preparing fake documents.
They also used to call the owners of vehicles and demand money from them in return for their vehicles, according to the police.
The suspects have been identified as Ali, Muneer alias Bacha, Nasir, Muneer, Gul Khan, Abuzar and Wataq Khan. Four cars were recovered from them, the police said.
The police have registered cases against the suspects and obtained their physical remand from the court. Further investigation is under way.
