LAHORE:

Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said on Sunday the Vice Chancellors’ Committee had proposed steps to lift the standards of education in public and private universities.

The recommendations would be forwarded to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he said. “We are reviewing the proposals. We will implement them, if need be.”

He said a mechanism was being evolved to monitor universities’ performance. He said the government was addressing complaints about quality of education and infrastructure deficiencies at some private universities.

He said some private universities had enrolled more students than their capacity. “Efforts are being made to check this,” he said.
