RAWALPINDI:

The provincial government has installed a computed tomography (CT) scan machine at Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi on Saturday to facilitate patients visiting the teaching hospital.

The machine is expected to ease the load on the city’s only CT scan machine at District Headquarters Hospital, which is unable to handle the patient load of hundreds of people every month.

Due to the unavailability of the facility in other government hospitals, patients either had to go to a private laboratory or wait for months for an appointment. In addition, a CT scan procedure at a private facility can cost up to Rs6,000.

HFH Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Arshad Sabir said the patients admitted in the hospitals will avail the facility free-of-charge, whereas outpatients will be charged up to Rs2,500. He said the machine cost them Rs5.5 million.
