Police on Friday reported that 14 motorcycles, four cars, and mobile phones, gold jewellery and cash worth millions of rupees were stolen in 43 hold-ups on Thursday and Friday, signalling a spike in the crime rate in the city.
According to details shared by the police, 30 mobile phones and thousands of rupees were looted from a mobile phone shop in front of MC High School in Factory Area. Police said armed robbers collected the valuables from Muhammad Fahad’s shop and fled. Danish Ali was deprived of 66,000 dhirams and his cell phone near City railway station. Armed men took away Rs100,000 from Arshad at 66-Fota Bazar. Imran was deprived of Rs150,000 at Rehmani Chowk. Police said six people were held up at gunpoint in separate incidents at Cinema Chowk, D-Type Colony, near Premier Graveyard, on Pensara Road, at Allied Mor and in Shalimar Park. Three tractor trolley drivers were held up in Chak 276-RB. Criminals took away motorcycles from 14 people on Circular Road, in front of Kalash Hosiery, in Amin Town, in Dhobi Ghat, on Iqbal Stadium Road, in Chak 46-GB, near NFC University, in Gulifshan Colony, near MC Higher Secondary School, in Green View Colony, near Koh-i-Noor Plaza, near Bhai Wala, in Chak 227-GB, near Riaz Garden and in Al-Fayyaz Colony, Imdad Hussain was deprived of his rickshaw near Chak 209-RB, Ateeq’s rickshaw was stolen near Khiddarwala, Javaid Iqbal’s car was stolen near the Faisalabad District Bar Association, Shehzad’s car was stolen on Circular Road, Shahadat Ali’s car was stolen near the Divisional Public School and Ashiq Ali’s car near Ghulam Muhammadabad.
Several cattle owners were deprived of buffaloes as well. Armed robberies also took place in houses in Yousuf Abad, Chak 79-RB, Saeed Colony, Chak 353-GB and Chak 237-RB. Police said no one had been arrested so far.
