QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said on Friday that the force was, in unison with other services, fully prepared to deter and defeat any aggression across the entire spectrum of threats.
According to a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Sharif visited the Command and Staff College in Quetta on Friday. The army chief said that the force is respected for its achievements and sacrifices the world over.
Gen Sharif said that the army has the unique accomplishment of having been employed on various fronts against both conventional and sub-conventional threats for over a decade.
The army chief exhorted the need for future leadership to remain abreast with the latest global and regional developments and focus on their professional grooming.
Elaborating on this, the COAS emphasised that the army should carry its legacy as a national army suffused with an enhanced degree of professional ethos, pride and esprit de corps.
An army which continues to be reflective of Pakistan’s aspirations manifesting the collective will and resilience of its citizens, Gen Sharif said, is a symbol of national unity and cohesion.
Earlier, Gen Sharif had been received by Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Naseer Khan Janjua.

I grew up in Pakistan and with this sickness we depict here relating India to each and every problem we have in our society. I think we need to grow up. Enough with this mentality that all the problems we are facing are result of India/Jew/America and what not.
We have almost spend 70 years in trying to become a Security state and result is that we have neither secure nor better off any other way but we are definitely have regressed in everything. For about 70 years we are feeding a huge military industrial complex that has lost every war it fought but successfully overthrown governments, run bakeries, manufacture cement, lends money through banks or in other words control private sector.
Enough with this! Army chief needs to do his job without issuing statements, so as others.

Learn to face the facts, as this is what has cause your society's downfall ! Can you really face the facts ? I think the pakistani army/COAS keeps issuing this statement almost once a month. The pak army seems to think that the only thing issuing statement is their only job and enough to protect pakistan, while there is a blast going on every day.

My original comment was in support of our Army chief's comments. Also, I don't appreciate Indian commentators insulting Islam, Pakistan, and Muslims. Show some respect
Time to use this preparedness against both types of terrorists destroying this country i.e. the suicide bombing terrorists and corruption terrorists. The latter has in fact weakened the country more than the former in larger perspective and on greater scale
Army is prepared to deter any attack on its Eastern border for which they are waiting to happen while the terrorists who are not aggressors can carry on their mayhem regardless, at home.

Mois General, now that you have started with the complete meltdown of the country, at least amend the staff college curriculam by adding the professional policing of citizens lessos for senior officers.. Remember, also the fate of Napoean Bonapart, who could not reconcile with peace.

@Murtaza rewriting history Pakistani style, right! Well while we are at it what about excellent undefeated record against mighty elected Governments of 1988,92,96 and 1999. That was some military work against heavily armed and 10 times bigger armies occupaying Islamabad.
Alas, someday as a nation we may wake up and smell the coffee of actual army we so much love but than again army run very successful bakery business.
Inferiority complex
Why don't we protect the lives and honor of our citizens. A novel idea? Or have TTP leaders train our generals how to fight with a rag tag army against a million man army armed to the teeth.
The Army has to be supported in all circumstances. I am a little concerned about the fitness of the Officers, mostly Majors, that I had occasion to teach at the Command and Staff College, Quetta. Best wishes.
@H Chaudhry: Of course they do, beating a 10 times bigger army in 1948, 1965, pushing them back in Kargil and holding 1/3 of Kashmir and GB from them is not easy :)
Islamabad has lost control of almost half the country -- clear evidence that my definition of "any aggressor" and General Raheel Sharif aren't the same. The facts are obvious - despite consuming an enormous portion of the budget the military hasn't provided adequate security from terrorist threats - 40,000 dead and counting. Time to step up to the plate and confront/defeat the numerous militant groups that are slowly consuming Pakistan.
Musharraf seemed to Hagen ruined the professionalism beyond repair. Please prove me wrong.

....before a threat is defeated IT MUST FIRST BE IDENTIFIED.....and therein lies the problem.
The biggest ever aggression which has devastated the country was the worst corruption onslaught by wadera corruption party during 2008-13 which still continues in the sinned province particularly against wadera occupied Karachi

The General should be more concerned about imploding from within first, as that is most likely scenario facing this Nation in immediate future. Please worry about your Assets, that you have created, who have started dreaming of the bigger picture of having their own turf, which your Army is simply not trained or willing to tackle, that should be your present and immediate concern to hold the Nation in its present form. The Army should be well aware of their adventurism in 1971, as a example as to its achievements !
