Charge’d Affairs Thomas Williams also expressed the hope that Pakistan will consider lifting a ban on import of livestock from the US, even as fears of an outbreak of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus, or PEDv.
Dar said that the government will consider lifting the ban after relevant ministry moves a summary before the Economic Coordination Committee.
The two further discussed bilateral economic issues and cooperation between the US and Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by Rana Assad Amin, Advisor to Finance Ministry and senior officials of the Ministry.
Williams was informed by Dar that the structural reforms the new government had undertaken, after coming into power last June, had begun to yield results, adding that all economic indicators are as per the government’s projection.
Dar also said that the country has fairly stable foreign exchange reserves and an optimistic stock market which indicates the confidence of the business community in regard to economic policies.
In terms of energy, the finance minister said that it remains as one of the highest priorities of the current government, adding that the government is increasingly working towards using the indigenous resources in order to reduce the dependence on imported resources.
The finance minister also discussed the CASA-1000 Power Transmission Project and other hydropower projects in Pakistan, including Dasu and Diamir Basha Dam.
The Charge’d Affairs assured the Dar that the US would continue to maintain partnership with Pakistan and would work for peace and stability in the region and wanted to enhance existing relations in all areas of mutual interest.

There are some improvements certainly, budget deficit seems to renain core of business issues, this needs to be somewhere around 3%

Yes sure ! Wait till the U.S. pull-out is complete, and we will see as to this Country's self importance in the region and with its partners in west on WOT. Rest assure, no one is any more fooled by the duplicity and games played by this Nation over past decade. No one is either going to forget or trust this Nation in the West very easily, in near future. So get used to living without hand-outs and aid.
