SUKKUR: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah urged the government on Thursday to take advantage of the recent breakaway of the Mehsud group from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

"It is a good move by Khan Said alias Sajna, the leader of  Mehsud tribe, to expose the illegal activities of the TTP, such as extortion burglaries, kidnapping for ransom and corruption, and the government should take advantage of this," said Shah while talking to the media in Sukkur on Friday.

On May 28, spokesperson of the group Azam Tariq had announced the decision during a press conference at an undisclosed location.

Politics of victimisation

When questioned about the recent non-bailable warrants issued for the arrest of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and former federal minister Makhdoom Amin Faheem over their alleged involvement in the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) scandal, Shah expressed sorrow and disappointment.

"The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government should stop the victimisation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)."

He further said that the PPP will have to look for other ways if the PML-N does not stop this victimisation.

"Democracy does not work on the basis of revenge," he added.

Khurshid shah statement about the two PPP corrupt and indicted politicians and blaming this on PMLN suggest that the judiciary is subservient to the government and only indicts those directed by it. He should be held for maligning judiciary.

Did the PPP not rise to power in the 2008 elections on the basis of their slogan "Democracy is the best revenge" ?
