KARACHI: The Pakistan ‘A’ team left for West Indies yesterday to play a series against their Caribbean counterparts with captain Faisal Iqbal promising a positive display from his side.

“We’re aiming for wins and we’ve worked hard in our short training camp,” Iqbal told The Express Tribune ahead of the team’s departure from Lahore. “We have a balanced side that has potential to beat any side at this level.”

Pakistan will be playing two Twenty20s (T20), three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and two Tests during their tour that commences with a T20 on November 5.

Iqbal, who has played 26 Tests and 18 ODIs for Pakistan, felt that the tour was a good chance for all youngsters to gain experience. “It will be great playing in the Caribbean and the tour will give a good deal of experience to all players,” he said before adding that the sojourn was also a good opportunity for him to regain a place in the national team.

“I will try my best to give a good batting performance as it can bring me back in the national team,” said Iqbal who has failed to find a place in the national team since January when he played against Australia in Sydney. “But this tour is not only an opportunity for me alone. It will also be a huge chance for all players to prove their worth for the national team.”

Meanwhile, Yasir Arafat has replaced Hammad Azam who was ruled out of the series following an injury he sustained during the training camp at the National Cricket Academy. Usman Arshad has also been included in the squad after Naveed Yasin was denied a visa.
