Nandipur Power Project: First unit inducts 92MW to power grid

The unit will formally be inaugurated on May 31.

ISLAMABAD: The first unit of the Nandipur Power Project—95 megawatts— was inducted in the national power grid on Tuesday. The unit will formally be inaugurated on May 31. Managing Director M Mehmood, said that the first unit was completed in just seven month and had started supplying 95MW to the national grid system. He added that the project has four units and after every two month another unit would be added to the grid system. Around 60 per cent physical work on the second 95.4MW unit has already been completed and would start generation by July, he added. Mehmood said the whole project would be completed by December and the last unit would generate 134MW electricity. The MD said that the project would cost Rs 59 billion and around Rs.7 billion was saved so far. He said that all technical tests of the first gas turbine including its performance, sound, temperature and vibration proved to be successful.

Good work. Finally the famed Nandipur power project starts working. Any electricity added to the national grid will help reduce load shedding.
