Police and security officials had claimed that the notorious militant commander, Jangrez Khan, was killed on April 13 during shelling.

PESHAWAR:

The commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Darra Adam Khel chapter, who was declared dead by law enforcement agencies in April this year, has apparently risen from the grave after a video of him surfaced on social media recently.

Police and security officials had claimed that the notorious militant commander, Jangrez Khan, was killed on April 13 during shelling by army helicopter gunships in Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar.

However, the militant faction’s Facebook page uploaded a video last week where Jangrez can be seen sitting on a charpoy, along with two companions, belying claims of his alleged death. He termed reports of his killing as ‘baseless’.

Jangrez, hailing from Adezai village, is known for his ruthless tactics and was appointed the TTP commander of Peshawar, FR Peshawar and Khyber Agency a year ago. He was said to be responsible for several deadly ambushes on security forces and police convoys as well as the cinema house attacks in Peshawar.
