Pakistani designers who have already made a mark in the local fashion industry are now planning on hitting the international market with a fashion show aimed at showcasing such designers on a larger scale abroad.

According to a press release, the event, titled, Fashion Parade 2014 will be held on June 9 in London in the Kensington Palace. It has been organised by Mustang Productions and Encyclomedia and is the first event of its kind to provide a platform for Pakistani designers for publicity on such a large scale.

The aim of the platform is to celebrate Asian culture and fashion and to allow Pakistani designers to make a mark by showcasing their designs to international audiences. While Pakistan’s fashion industry has gained global appreciation on a limited scale, this event aims to serve as a stage for designers to have a greater audience and raise the level of Pakistani fashion appreciation to another level.

The designers whose collections will be part of Fashion Parade 2014 comprise of notable Pakistani designers including Faiza Samee, Ayesha Hashwani, Nomi Ansari, Zara Shahjehan, Seher Tareen and Nazneen Tariq. Couture collections of each designer aimed at presenting a fusion of eastern and western design philosophies will be part of the showcase.

CEO of Mustang Productions Sadia Siddiqui also felt that it was important that another version of Pakistani culture was highlighted in the UK. “I felt London lacked the serious platform where South Asian designers could be effectively promoted amongst the members of Pakistani, Indian and British business, media and fashion community.”

The British Fashion Council has shown interest in Fashion Parade 2014 and their Head of Events Josef Jammerbund and Media Head Anna Orsini will be attending the event. Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Mirza also supported the initiative and said, “The Fashion Show provides a platform for designers to introduce their work in UK and help promote trade relations between the two countries. It represents a fusion of both, East and West, thus, bringing both the British and Pakistani communities together to celebrate.”
