LAHORE:

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) would set up a sub-office in Sheikhupura in June, a statement issued on Monday said.

In December 2013, the provincial assembly had empowered the LDA, previously a wing of the district government, to undertake planning and development activities in Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur districts to establish an integrated metropolitan and regional development approach.

An LDA director, three deputy directors and eight assistant directors, a deputy director of general cadre and one assistant director each from general, law and engineering cadres would be posted at the new office.

The support staff will include a computer operator, eight sub-engineers, a draftsman and a patwari, the statement said.

The authority would construct a road from the Sheikhupura interchange of motorway to the Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park in Qiampura.

The 3.5-kilometre road would be built at a cost of Rs33.26 million. The LDA has invited tenders from construction firms by June 21.
