PABBI:

A doctor and his brother, a schoolteacher, were shot and injured in a kidnapping attempt in Pabbi in the late hours of Saturday.

An official of the Pabbi police said Dr Hamzullah, who works at Rashid Shaheed Memorial Hospital in Pabbi, reported to the police that he and his brother, Niazullah, were on their way home on Cherat Road from the hospital in the late hours of Saturday when two cars approached their vehicle near Jalozai Camp.

The doctor explained that masked armed men directed him to stop his vehicle and disembark, but he instead sped away after which the assailants opened fire at them, injuring him and his brother.

The official said after the firing, police officials deployed at a nearby check post rushed to the spot along with residents.

“Fearing being caught, the assailants escaped in their two cars,” he said, adding both the injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
