Police on Thursday said that they had killed a man wanted in several cases of robbery, murder, kidnapping, extortion and terrorism.
Aslam Jora was killed in Rahim Yar Khan’s Airport police precinct, Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Haidar Ashraf said. There was a Rs200,000 reward on his capture, dead or alive.
The CPO said that police had received information that Jora had been living in a house in village 133 of Rahim Yar Khan. He said a team of Faisalabad police, including Inspector Rafiq Ahmad and Sub-Inspector Farrukh Waheed, raided the house and asked Jora to surrender. Jora started firing on the policemen and was killed when the police fired back, the CPO said.
He said Jora was among the top 10 proclaimed offenders wanted by Faisalabad police. He had also injured Prisons Department Deputy Superintendent Mian Zahid in a rocket attack.
His name was also included in the Home Department’s list of most-wanted criminals.
Earlier, Jora’s two brothers Akram Jora and Khan alias Khani had also been killed in a police encounter, the CPO added.
