Toxic Spinach?: 22 of same family fall sick

They fainted after consuming adulterated food in Saray Darpakhel area of Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency.

MIRANSHAH: Around 22 people of a family, including children and women, fainted after consuming adulterated food in Saray Darpakhel area of Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency on Thursday. An official of the political administration said Ikramullah, a resident of Saray Darpakhel, bought spinach from somewhere and brought it to his house, adding when the vegetable was consumed by the family members they all suffered from dehydration and fainted. The official said the affected people include 10 women, seven children and five men of the same family. He presumed that some toxic plant might have been cooked with the spinach and caused the adverse reaction. Other family members present in the house took the affected people to Miranshah hospital where they were undergoing treatment till the filing of this report.
