Ties with Sri Lanka: President calls for greater cooperation

President Mamnoon said it was important for the regional countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

SHANGHAI: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday underlined the need for regional countries to forge close cooperative relationships to overcome shared challenges.  In a meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa on the sidelines of CICA Summit (Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia), President Mamnoon said it was important for the regional countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Discussing bilateral economic relations, President Mamnoon Hussain appreciated Sri Lanka’s rapid economic progress and stressed the need for greater efforts on both sides to translate the relationship of the two countries into economic and commercial terms.
