KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has called for the comments and the entire records relating to a case lodged against the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional MNA Ghous Bux Mahar and others, who are accused of illegally holding a jirga to settle the honor killing of two girls in Shikarpur.

Headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, the bench also extended protective pre-arrest bail granted to Mahar till May 26, when the matter would be taken up to see the case records.

Following the directives of the Supreme Court to arrest the organisers of the jirga, the police had booked Mahar and others in FIR No. 24/2014 under sections 419, 384, 143, 117 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Mahar obtained, however, an interim bail from the high court, saying he was implicated in the case even though he did not attend the jirga.
