The book, published this month by John Blake Publishing in London, is being released less than eleven weeks after the disappearance of the Boeing 777, which was carrying 239 passengers.
According to The Telegraph report, the author further alleged that the search may have been led astray as part of a cover-up.
The family of passengers aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines flight has criticised the release of the first book on the saga, saying the publication was premature and its claims the plane was accidentally shot down were speculation.
Cawthorne, who lives in London, says the failure to find wreckage is "in itself is suspicious" and that even if the plane's black box is eventually found, it may not be the original black box.
"Another black box could have been dropped in the sea 1000 miles from Perth while the search was going on in the South China Sea," the book says.

Sounds plausible to me. Many British are sick of their so called special relationship with the clandestine USA. The USA are responsible for a lot of things. A lot more than we think. The truth will come out one day.
Hmmm, is this just PR by the author to SELL HIS BOOK AND MAKE MONEY off of this tragedy! BTW, the next book will describe how aliens transported the plane to Mars!
Which military exercise? Cobra Gold?.
Wasn't Cobra Gold held on February while MH370 lost on March 8?
@ABKhan: People like you are the reason conspiracy theorists and fear propagators earn millions. Less 11 weeks and this book was researched so well? It takes way more just to analyze information let alone collect it. False theories would sell his book and make all all he probably wants. P.S: the Iranian plane when shot down was acknowledged unlike this incident. And not knowing the reason doesn't imply there was 'no reason' .
I don't know if I agree with this theory specifically, but I am 100% sure that there is more to the MH370 story than the official version. The US, especially, has been strangely quiet and dismissive. The Chinese engineers holding unique patents, the timing of the change of course, the lack of ANY radar or satellite evidence (even with the US which operates a globe-spanning array of sensors both inside and outside the Earth's atmosphere to track humans, let alone jets), the shady business at Diego Garcia. All very, very strange.
I am not surprised by this claim. Everyone knows US shot down an Iranian passenger plane in the past and killed hundreds of civilians for no reason.
There were lots of conspiracy theories including this one and I don't know why this one has drawn attention after an interval. Is this something to save the aviation industry and saving the technologically proud face of the US?
