Flooding of Tochi River washed away people’s belongings in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: Seven members of the same family were killed when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain in Khartage village in Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan Agency Sunday night.

An official of the political administration said two women, three children and two men were among the deceased. He added various electronic items were also damaged as a result of the rain.

The official said flash floods damaged a number of houses in Dattakhel while flooding of the Tochi River washed away people’s belongings. He said standing crops in Manzarkhel, Muhammadkhel, Miranshah, Tapi, Hamzoni villages along with different areas of Mirali were also swamped.

Residents demanded the government declare an emergency in the area and provide assistance to the people.
