An elderly man accused of blasphemy was shot dead by a teenager inside a police lockup in Sheikhupura district on Friday, police officials said.
According to them, 14-year-old Muhammad Saleem entered the Sharaqpur police station and shot prisoner Khalil Ahmed after seeking permission to visit him from the authorities present. The prisoner died on the spot. Saleem was reportedly wearing a police uniform in order to gain entry to the police station. Police have registered a case against Saleem and have confined him at the same lockup.
Khalil, who belongs to the Ahmadiyya community, had been in police custody since May 13 after an FIR was registered against him for allegedly committing blasphemy.

bravo! our police should be awarded as the worst force in the world!
Ah great! Now if you are accused of blasphemy and you are locked up, good for all the fanatics out there. They can easily get their hands on you. All they have to do is to visit the police station with a gun n uniform. Saves everyone the trouble of going to court and fighting the case of someone who may be innocent ...
@my namesake Uzair: Dude, think for a second: is insulting or defaming ANYTHING worth killing the person? I mean, seriously?
this is what media doing today.to take their personal revenge media houses are provoking people to come to streets and start voilance in the name of Islam
All the blasphemy law has done is blaspheme Pakistan in the International community.A country 98% Muslim needs to enact a blasphemy law is a contradiction in itself.
@Mj, that isolated island is Pakistan, no place will accept them, other countries, states have self respect and enough problems as it is.
@uzair after going through the complete news report this is all you could come up with.
"liberals always cry tears for the culprit. They do not look at the big picture of the crime of insulting and defaming Islam."
I hope you said that sarcastically, because other wise it would prove you to be as stubborn and as illiterate as a raging bull and I am sure we already have plenty of those.
@Uzair: what is your point, that anyone accused of blasphemy should be summarily executed without a trial? Would you apply that standard if someone accused you of blasphemy?
In this murder, police is involved unless proven other wise. All the staff members, on duty at that time, must be locked up in the jail or kept in jail for rest of their life till their name is cleared by the judge. The fourteen yrs old must face the gallows or firing squad.
Force is strong with this one!
ok stop blocking my comments ET, this is a boy of 14 year, it is a crime for him to be treated as an adult by the law enforcement, pakistan should follow international human rights laws (to which pakistan is a signatory) related to how to treat children in prisons!
This 14 year-old boy asked permission from the authorities present to visit the prisoner. Normally the authorities would ask him some questions such as purpose to visit the prisoner, from which police unit is he, even asking police ID card. Also it's not difficult to recognize that this boy is too young to be policeman.
But if in fact this boy got permission to visit the prisoner .......... hmm, I feel something strange in this case.
@Ahmed: This was a murder in the hands of Punjab police. Bigotry index is high and Saudia is happy. Punjabis are playing a cynical game to keep themselves in comfort and safety.
@Uzair: Worth thinking, no need to lodge an FIR straight way shoot and the case closed and Islam saved.
@Subhan Tariq: Dear Tariq, he can not be lodged in a prison but will be sent to juvenile home being minor unless the law is changed.
@Observer: By invented, do you mean the kind you see in Pakistan now?
Liberals always cry tears for the culprit. They do not look at the big picture of the crime of insulting and defaming Islam.
Could not have happened without the Police being involved. Let us see if the Mullah who brainwashed the boy, the Policemen who aided him and the shopkeeper who lodged the case are punished or not. My take: Deafening silence will follow !!
No matter if he's a minor a murder is a murder. He should be punished for it.
We Muslims invented Judiciary. Sadly, current Muslims don't understand the importance of it.
Why don't we change the topic and talk about the student who got beat up in india for unknown reasons? Its more comforting that way.
Again it is Punjab!! What is wrong with people there?? why do ALL blasphemy related killings take place in Punjab??
If a fourteen year old can wear a police uniform and enter a police station with a gun and kill a blasphemy accused, it is like taking candy from a child because the police are accomplices to this cold blooded murder. This country is lost because there is no ACCOUNTABILITY. Salams
@sh(india): It is! IT DEFINITELY IS! There are no questions about that. The misguided and misdirected mullahs, padres, pandits, rabbis, monks, etc. in all religions are the headaches for for all, not only us. So, let there not be any misgivings on the subject. A handful of persons, led by the ideology of two or three individuals who are dead and gone, are barbs in our sides and need to be done away with. Have a nice day and visit Dr. Zakir Naik who is not very far away from you.
When can we expect to see the assigned lawyers shower the accused with rose petals??? After all, NO ONE has ever been punished for these types of crimes!
And Pakistanis are worried about a student getting bashed in India?
It is paralyzed state and inaction of administration along with no belief in judicial system that has lead individuals to decide on their own. may ALLAH guide us to the right path specially when we are given a chance to elect a govt. to rule us for 5 long years...........
How incredibly sad. The police should be ashamed of themselves. A 14 year old in a police uniform and no one notices - really??? Either the police are complete morons or complicit .... or both (which is more likely the case).
At the very least everyone there should be fired - and there should be some sort of responsibility claimed by the higher ups.
How long before we decide that its not in our best interest to look like complete idiots to the rest of the world.
The mere fact that this could happen is shocking .... and that's not even addressing the issue of the moral obligation of the community to keep the accused safe and the fact that blasphemy is a punishable offense. The British, the folks that we modeled our justice system in Pakistan, abolished the common law offences of blasphemy and blasphemous libel.
Today it came realy true "badla hai punjab"
Mr. CM Sahib, being a Khadim-e-Aala you are responsible for his murder. My condolences to deceased's family, may Allah rest his soul in peace. Inna lilla wa inna elehe ra'jeoon.
And the Jihad continues. The chicken have come home to roost.
Shameless...
religion of peace!!
14 year old is not to blame, his upbringing and decline of our society is to. . Pathos! Story Ruined my day
Pakistan needs to ship off all the religious fundamentalists to an isolated island so the rest of us can live in peace. In their quest to 'save' Islam by murdering people on the slightest pretext, these zealots have tarnished the image of Pakistanis and Muslims and have brought the worst repute to Islam among all current religions.
14 year wearing police uniform? and no one noticed.
