A Pakistani journalist has won France’s top journalism award along with two French journalists.
Taha Siddiqui, who is currently the Islamabad correspondent for the Paris-based France24 and formerly worked with The Express Tribune, was awarded the prestigious Albert Londres Prize for Journalism along with French journalists Julien Fouchet and Sylvain Lepetit on May 12.
The three journalists won the award, which is considered to be France’s equivalent of the US Pulitzer Prizes for journalism, for a report on the killings of health workers involved in Pakistan’s anti-polio drive.
Their “Polio War” feature depicts Pakistan’s challenge to eradicate polio from the country and the struggle of health workers who conduct the polio vaccination campaigns.
Siddiqui has worked for several local and international news organisations.
