In favour: JI leader says peace talks ‘mandatory’

Millions of people have become homeless because of unrest in the country, said Ibrahim.

MARDAN: Peace talks are mandatory for the survival of Pakistan, said Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Professor Ibrahim at two-day congregation in Shergarh on Friday. Other JI provincial leaders were also in attendance, including Mohammad Ismail, Mushtaq Khan, and Shaber Ahmad. Ibrahim claimed peace was restored in Pakistan at the start of the talks between the government and the Taliban. But then the process was suspended because of terrorist attacks on the army, and in Rawalpindi and Bannu. The government should issue directives to the political agent of North Waziristan to make arrangements for holding said negotiations, said the JI provincial head. Millions of people have become homeless because of unrest in the country, added Ibrahim.
