Relief: Curfew lifted in NWA after eight days

MIRANSHAH: The political administration of North Waziristan lifted the curfew in the agency on Friday after eight days. The curfew was imposed on May 8 after at least eight security officials were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Ghulam Khan tehsil. A political administration official said school and business activities came to a complete halt for eight days but tribesmen were informed on Friday that the curfew has been lifted. Schools and markets finally opened and people rushed to purchase essential commodities. Many tribesmen complained they incurred huge losses as a result of the curfew.
