
The Pakistan B team, comprising Salman Jehangir and Naeem Khan, emerged victorious as they captured the International Team Title of the 53rd National Amateur Golf Championship at the Royal Palm Golf and the Country Club Golf in Lahore on Friday.
Only one stroke behind the opening day leaders Pakistan C, Jehangir and Khan took control of the situation. The aggregate score of the Pakistan team at the end was 295 seven-over par.
“The win is a good sign for golf in Pakistan after the upset of last year, when we lost to Bangladesh,” said Pakistan Golf Federation Secretary Nayyar Afzal.
Pakistan C finished on the second position with a score of 12-over par and Bangladesh came third with 21-over par.
Meanwhile, Mubariz Ahmed and Zulfiqar Ali are leading the race for the individual national title with two-day aggregate score of 146, two-over par. Others in line are Taimoor Khan, Salman Jehangir, Naeem Khan, Ali Hai, Zohaib Asif, Tariq Mehmood, Fakhar Imam and Ghazanfar Mehmood.
Ami Qin is the leader in the women’s title with ten-over par, followed by Maryama Khan with 11-over par, while Zaibun Nisa and Ghazala Yasmin both scored 12-over par.
In the Inter-Association Team match, Sindh is ahead at 453, followed by Federal at 457 and Punjab at 460.
