According to the CCPO, the suspects intended to target senior journalists and important personalities.
He added that the suspects had been involved in several target killing incidents in the city.
Suicide jackets, explosive material, hand grenades and other weapons were confiscated from the suspects.
The arrests came after a traffic warden alerted the police about the suspicious individuals.
The police official said that further investigation is under way.

Great work by Punjab Police in apprehending the terrorists armed to the teeth. Major terrorist attacks have been averted. This clearly shows the terrorists that the law enforcers are vigilant and they will not get a free hand to kill and create panic among the masses. Congratulations Punjab Police.

This is a well coordinated job done.We should always praise the good deeds of our law enforcing agencies, paramilitary forces and our Pak Army as these individuals stand between us and harms way.They sacrifice their today for our future and what do they demand in return just a little bit of realisation and understanding on our part.A soldier lays down his life for the defence of our motherland and we treat this just as every other ordinary news.Just stop and think what motivated the individual to sacrifice his life and family for this country why dont we do this well the answer is simple it takes courage and guts to achieve what he achieved and that is something which as a nation we are devoid of .We have to stop somewhere and think what our actions, thinking and agenda should be to serve our country and save it from the nefarious designs of the enemies. Couldn't agree with the above more. Every service has some corruption and rotten apples, but the jobs aren't easy (esp in this heat) and we owe them some respect. Militant targeting of journalists is on a rise --- Raza Rumi, Hamid Mir (though he'd like to believe otherwise). Great job by the police! We salute you!
Definition of important personalities: All politicians who are looting our country with both hands, all bureaucrats who are partners in crime in fact most of them are relatives of politicians.
I would not move an inch to get into sympathy mode at the death of so called important personalities.
hats off to the warden for being extra vigilant. People of Lahore should respect them and thank them the next time you see them instead of fighting with them and slapping them ( the akmal family and likes). The terror plot could have killed anyone of us or our children.
Traffic warden should be awarded amid funfare to motivate others to be vigilant and create awareness among the public also.....
